AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
FROM THE OTM FIGHTSHOP:
There is an old Chinese proverb that states "A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step." These words of wisdom can be applied quite effectively when one thinks about the way that most of today's world class Jiu-Jitsu, Submission Grappling, and Mixed Martial Arts super stars started their illustrious careers by competing at the American International Championships held annually in Long Beach, California.
Grappling legends such as Dean Lister, Marc Laimon, Leozinho Viera, and Cassio Werneck. The next generation of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in Ryron Gracie and Ralek Gracie. The new breed of American jiu-jitsu stars in Mike Fowler, Rafael Lovato Jr., Nam Phan, Jeff Glover, and Bill Cooper. Ultimate Fighters like Diego Sanchez and Keith Jardine. The top female grapplers in the world in Gazzy Parman, Leka Viera, and Nori Avellan. Even On The Mat's very own Scotty Nelson and the Grappler's Quest's Brian Cimins have graced the mats at the American International Championships. These competitors have honed their competition skills here and have gone on to become super stars at the ADCC World Championships, the Mundials, Pan Americans, and Grappler's Quest. They have become household names by competing on The Ultimate Fighter reality show, as well as the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Some have also gone on to become coaches and form some of the most talented competition teams in the world.
The American International Championship's sixth annual installment, which features both gi and no-gi competition is set to take place on November 19, 2006 in Long Beach, California at the Long Beach City College. With the amount of success and prestige that this event has garnered over the past five years it's no wonder that this year's competition is set to be even bigger, better, and more competitive by attracting top level competition from all over the world, along with the up and coming generation in the men's, women's, and children's divisions that are destined to become world champions, ultimate fighters, and household names, such as the ones mentioned above. Could one of those people be you?
